You're probably sick of hearing about Our Lady of Hope by now, but this is one news item I'm tickled to bring you. I've received confirmation that the parish has formally petitioned the Archdiocese to change the name back to Holy Child.
This is great news for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is it undoes the gross injustice that was the original closing / renaming. I've never liked the renaming convention, and it's pretty telling that the AD stopped using it a long time ago. And, if it helps the parish reconnect better with alumni, especially as it looks to more formally resurrect the Shrine of the Christ Child, more the better.
Fr. Efren has asked me to pray that the AD accepts the petition, and I in turn ask the same of you. And a message for the AD, if they happen to be reading: Please, please, please do this. This is the easiest win in the world for everybody involved. A way to revive the historic heritage of a great parish, undo a very big wrong, and set the stage for a rejuvenated future.
